Hilcrhyme – 春夏秋冬

Friday, November 13th, 2009

This spring, where should we go?
This summer, where should we go?
The cherry blossoms in spring and the sea in summer,
I want to see it with you,
I want to be with you

This autumn, where should we go?
This winter, where should we go?
The red leaves in autumn and the snow in winter,
I want to see it with you,
I want to be with you

Windows 7 upgrade part II

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Yesterday I upgrade my PC as well. I have to say, I’m loving Windows 7 – it’s everything I want it to be.

For example, click+drag upwards on the taskbar opens the menu – simple, smooth and convenient. Opening recent files and folders has never been easier (using the Windows Explorer/Word/Visual Studio/etc. icons).

I also really love the auto maximise/restore functionality with windows. Instead of 5 clicks to move a maximised window from one screen to the other, now all it takes is just 1 – click, drag to top of next screen, release, done.

I didn’t have to install a single driver either, compared to XP/Vista when I had to track down drivers for printer, graphics card, sound card, etc. – now it automatically finds and installs an appropriate driver.

And it looks awesome too :D

Sorry Linux, you’re going to have to do better than Karmic if you want to take over the desktop GUI market (although it still has its place in the home server sector, imo ;P)

edit:

Thanks to MSDNAA for my two free serials :D

Windows 7 upgrade

Monday, November 9th, 2009

I upgraded my dad’s pc to Windows 7 today, and it went without a single hitch. I’m pretty happy with how Windows installations are improving. The clean install only took ~15 minutes, compared to the ~30 minute installation times for XP/Vista. All drivers installed automatically rather than requiring me to hunt them down one by one. It can even run Aero even though it’s only got a cheap integrated graphics card (this PC cost less than $400).

The new taskbar will take some getting used to, but other than that I don’t think there’ll be many problems adapting to Windows 7.
