Speedcubing Champs update

Monday, July 20th, 2009On Saturday I went down to Wellington with my cousin and a friend to compete in the first ever speedcubing competition in Australasia.
I got a new personal best time of 19.11 seconds and a new best average of ~23.6s.
I came 8th overall and 4th in NZ.

Thursday, April 30th, 2009Been extremely busy these last few weeks.
There were many assignments and tests to do, which took up most of my time.
On the other hand, I’d say I’m pretty much at Adept skill level at UT now (DM, all the 1 on 1 maps, 4 bots)
I did a set of times for cubing last night, averaged 28-ish, which is kinda lame. I was expecting a 25-26ish average :/
Secret project was put on hold. Since the last mention I’ve done some refactoring and started the text engine.
Off to some piano practice :O

After I started reading a book on Design Patterns, I changed one of my abstract base classes to an interface. I think it’s definitely a better design for my program, so don’t you go copying it if you’re in my 251 class >:|
Secret project (if you don’t know what it is, don’t ask me)
Haven’t touched it since the beginning of the holidays, unfortunately. Waiting permission to use a font sheet (9pt Verdana) I found, after which I’ll be implementing my font system. With that out of the way, scoring, combo, and all other places where text has to be displayed should be much easier to program.
Cubing
Learnt two new OLL algorithms about a week ago, although since then I’ve only used the two algorithms less than 5 times. Haven’t timed any solves since ages ago D:

Lucario at lv50, with the moveset I wanted. Got a 34-win streak at battle tower, but I hit an unlucky streak (90 accuracy attack missed twice in a row :/).
